April 6th, 2016

Yesterday, I went to the Tuesday exercises in the spa - only three of us there - so many have left already.  When I got back to my rv, I spent time typing up my budget and then lying in the sun by the swimming pool.  First time I've gotten in the pool this year - the sun was hot, so the cold water felt fantastic!
Today, I woke up regretting all that time in the sun - I'm really very burnt - oh well . . .  I took my rv to Taylor's Automotive in Dickinson to have the oil changed and the tires checked.  They also put steel extensions on the back tires - I'd been meaning to have that done for awhile.  Sooo . . . I'm pretty much ready to go.  Spent a few hours finishing off my budget and typing up a list for the border.  It's quite impressive this year - only spent $545 on stuff that I'm bringing back - and some of that - like yarn - I'm actually leaving here in the stuff I gave to Luanne for Easter.  My days of buying souvenirs are in the past, I guess!  This place is more like home now!
I took a few more photos around the park - caught Ron in work mode.

It's that time again - the oleanders are in bloom!

This weekend I spent at Luanne's again - we went to see the rock musical Tommy, put on by a local theatre company, ETC (East-end Theatre Company).  This was the first time I had ever seen the musical, and I enjoyed it immensely, despite having real difficulty understanding the words to a lot of the songs.  Hope that hearing aids are going to help with my hearing issues, but I do think that enunciation was an issue, too.
On Sunday, I said goodbye to the Moody Methodist Choir - sigh - and then Luanne and I went out to Moody Gardens for lunch and then just sat in the sun by the bay, watching the riverboat and enjoying the environment!
Monday, I finally got my rv repaired from the December fiasco with the towing company! The insurance cheque arrived last week, and I went to Tomcat's Autobody Shop, where the owner put a shiny new bumper on the front - looks awesome!  Although the cheque was short $200 from the estimate, they left a little dent in the side of the frame and just accepted the cheque as is! At noon, Luanne and I went for an oyster lunch one more time at Gilhooley's - love that place! In the afternoon, we drove out to the beach in the west end and were privileged to catch the Elyssa, out for its annual sail! We brought lawn chairs and just basked in the sun until the wind made us cold and drove us away.  That evening, I said goodbye to the Galveston College Choir - Mike has said that he will give the Christmas concert music to Donna to forward to me, so that I can sing with the choir in December! Not sure that he'll be so keen in the fall, but it sure sounds good to me - especially since I'll be leaving earlier next year, in order to bank time for Alaska.

Fried oysters and mushrooms - yum!

For the second time, we drove right past Gilhooley's and had to backtrack. Definitely meant for locals!

I spent Easter weekend at Luanne's, which was awesome as usual.  We really do get along well together - I gave her the bunnies, eggs, and basket which I've been crocheting for her. Good Friday service was solemn and meaningful; Easter Sunday was joyous as it should be. Luanne and I went to the Golden Corral for lunch, meeting up with a bunch of people from the park.Good times!

I skyped with both Julia and Bobby on Easter Sunday - even got a few words in with Leon and Kara.  Since I can't phone Canada on my Pay as you Go phone plan with AT&T, I sang Happy Birthday to Bobby a day early . .  Julia showed me all around her new apartment (well, she moved in with Leon, but it's new to her as a home) - looks awesome!.

People are starting to leave in droves! Sad time of year.  Colleen gave me a really amazing hanging sculpture - made completely from things she found on the beach here in Galveston!! What a keepsake!
