Spent some quality time at the beach - for the first time, I watched the sea lions swimming by.  I'm told that the herring run is just starting, and the sea lions go snack on herring, then swim back in a leisurely fashion, often hanging out with one flipper stuck up in the air!  Their barking sounds are very distinctive - and remarkably loud!  Very cool to see and hear - definitely worth some time just sitting and enjoying the show.

Wednesday: Elaine took me for a drive to Campbell River!  We stopped lots - to see wood sculptures - reminiscent of the Galveston carvings - and had a lovely lunch at a restaurant right beside the water - and of course we stopped at the local yarn store . . .  Elaine is a knitter, and we both go to the knitting club at the church on Monday afternoons.
We went to a shoe store, where I splurged and bought a pair of sandals which seem to be comfy and supportive on my so-hard-to-fit feet!  Summertime will tell, I guess!

January 28-29, 2018

Exploring the beach just across the road from the rv park.  Such breathtaking scenery around here! There's a little road behind the park which joins Lazo Rd. at its end - and a very short walk takes one to some benches overlooking the beach.  This is as far as I ventured  on this particular day.

Woke up this morning to an explosion of white!  I wasn't really expecting to see snow - not a wonderful feeling to look out on the stuff I'm trying to avoid in my retirement! I'm  missing Galveston very, very much today!

Yesterday, I drove my rig in to the Walmart in Courtney to get groceries, etc. - this Walmart has the biggest parking lot and can easily accommodate my rv.  This morning, I was sure glad that I did this trip yesterday - wouldn't have been too pleased to be driving my rig in the snow - not to mention the unhooking and hooking up!  Oh well, it's not deep and hopefully will be gone soon . . .
