Wednesday, January 30th, 2013: Busy day today - left at 8:30 to go to Houston with Lorna and Andre. We spent the morning checking out the city - first went to the Visitors' Centre in City Hall, then wandered around an area of the city which has old historical buildings on it. It's free to just look around, although if one wants to go inside, one has to pay. We then took the Green Line bus - a free bus line that follows a short route around the city centre - got a really interesting driver who gave us lots of information about our surroundings. We got off at a Starbucks, checked out the entrance to a 7 mile underground mall, then went to the Port of Houston for a free boat tour of the harbour. This necessitated online registration, showing picture ID, and lots of tight security regulations; the reality, however, was a joke! No one checked our registration numbers, no security people were in evidence, and although there signs everywhere stating that absolutely no photos were to be taken, no one was there to even comment when we did take pictures. Interesting . . .
On the way home, we stopped at Fuddruckers, a well known and absolutely awesome hamburger place! Lorna and Andre dropped me off at choir practice after that - so when I finally got home (about 10:00), I was pooped! A good day!
