Time is skipping by - I've already been here over a week - sang in the choir last Sunday, went to choir practice last Wednesday and picked up my copy of Vivaldi's Gloria, which we're singing on December 15 - holy crow, that's next Sunday - special practice with the orchestra scheduled for next Saturday. I've already accomplished much more than last year - living next door to Rob and Helen is either an inspiration or a curse - they're both crazy industrious! Rob is always visible outside, working on his rig - or mine! He washed and treated my whole rv, in exchange for me looking after their three dogs while they're away on a cruise to Hawaii! Sounds good, but I got a call from Rob yesterday, the day the cruise left from San Diego - Helen fell on the sidewalk across from the ship and fractured bones in her elbow and foot - so they'll be arriving back here in the next few days! As soon as they land in Houston, I'll go pick them up, since I'm also looking after their truck(!)
We had an outdoor bbq for potluck last Wednesday, and Rob and I played our guitars and sang two folk songs. Rob is just beginning to learn to play guitar, and did very well.
Today was
Dickens on The Strand - an annual festival celebrating Charles Dickens in particular and the Victorian era in general. Local people dress up in period costume (wearing a costume gets you 50% off the admission fee). Ron and Dora drove any campground people who wanted to come, in the camp van. We had lunch at Fudruckers, and had an awesome time! There were scads of people there, despite the very cold weather (around 42 fahrenheit; roughly 5 celcius), but noticeably fewer street vendors, which was a shame.
