Luanne and I drove around the historical section - saw the new wood sculpture that somebody just put in - not a victim of Hurricane Ike, just an addition to the yard. We drove over to Bolivar and finally located the Anahuac Wildlife Preserve - drove around a huge lake / swamp area and saw lots of birds - and a baby alligator! Evening found us at the Huli Huli Hut, enjoying the decor - and great burgers. The next day - off to the Gypsy Joynt again!

The owner of this house bought it recently - her other huge house in this district wasn't big enough to accommodate visits from her large family, so she bought this house for that purpose! |

From the top of the ramp up to the coffee house on Bolivar |

Awesome chai latte, homemade goodies, etc. The owner regaled us with the story of her life: marriage, autistic son, divorce, career as a lawyer, moving here for the sake of her son, but he decided to move to the small towns they used to live in, so she maintains this coffee shop. Fascinating - albeit a tad long-winded! |

Bolivar side of the ferry - this pelican kept its wings outstretched the whole time we were leaving! |
