Susan, Joan, Daisy and I went for a drive along the seawall, checking out the status of the new beach project going on here. The city is dredging sand from the bottom of the ocean and depositing it on the beach, thus extending the beach area by quite a lot! We had lunch at Mario's Restaurant, which serves a buffet lunch and has an outdoor courtyard with a fountain and great views of the ocean - and where Daisy is also welcome! The next day, we drove to an area near the east end of the island, where birds congregate - too far away for good photos, but we did see some roseate spoonbills and this lovely creature - an egret perhaps.

Joan and I were fascinated by this cool fish in the tank inside Mario's, so we asked the hostess what kind of fish it was. "Plastic" she replied, much to our chagrin . . . |
