Another road trip for Luanne and I - she knew a very cool restaurant in Matagorda (a few hours south along the Gulf) where they have great shrimp - and it's a nice drive on a beautiful sunny day - and we both like driving around - so we went.  We pretty got lost, though - her GPS took us down a country road which just didn't produce the restaurant we wanted - twice we ended up on the same road.  It was fun, though - luckily, we have the same attitude towards getting lost - explore more and enjoy the surroundings! It was a wonderful trip - lots of laughter - and we did end up at the restaurant we were heading for - but when we got there, Luanne said it wasn't the one she intended to find - so we explored the town of Matagorda, which is really very unprepossessing, and couldn't find anything else, so we went back to the waterfront restaurant and ate shrimp there.  It was good, but not fantastic - and it did overlook a marina, so we got an upclose look at shrimp boats.  I looked for the mandatory metal hoop, and sure enough, there it was! Luanne said that she might have gotten the town wrong - maybe it was Rockport, which is another hour further along the coast.
On the way back, we encountered Lake Jackson and that was worth the whole trip, right there!  Apparently, the town founder, the son of a rich Texas magnate, laid out the streets of the town and then consulted his secretary for street names.  She said, "Well, you have those streets going this way and that way - don't know what you're going to name them." So he named the streets This Way, That Way, Any Way - it's hilarious!

Entrance to a restaurant down Termini Pass from the park, past the toll booth, past the bridge to the mainland, turn left at this sign.

Restaurant in Matagorda - we went, checked out the dark, dark atmosphere, and left.

Luanne at the entrance to the above restaurant.

Cool bridge on the way to Matagorda.

View from the Waterfront Restaurant.

Shrimp boat, with the nets swung in to the back.

You can see the metal hoops, if you look really closely.

First sighting of this signage.

This sign really cracks me up - what cold weather? what ice? This is Texas!

Even a His Way - with a church at the end of it!

Love this bayou!
