Friday, we drove to Gander and explored a bit - visited City Hall, which has on display a piece of steel girder presented by a grateful U.S. in recognition of Gander's part in looking after 38 planesful of stranded Americans on 9/11. On a table beside this monument are three binders completely full of letters from official and random american people - quite the tribute!!
We asked a Tim Horton's worker where we could find "downtown" Gander, and she directed us back to City Hall area - there really doesn't seem to be much downtown here . . .
We finished the day in Clarenville, where we parked in a Walmart parking lot for the night.
