August 12th to 16th, 2017

Travelled to Girdwood and parked in front of a ski resort - big parking lot which welcomes RVers - there's an envelope honour system - $10 per night.  From here we toured around a bit - visited Whittier, which was absolutely awesome!  We drove through the Whittier Tunnel, which is one way for cars, rvs, and trains.  There's a schedule - at 15 minute intervals, each of the vehicles gets the okay to go through the tunnel.
On the way back to Girdwood, we stopped at a salmon spawning spot and then at an Alaska Wildlife Conservation Centre.  We saw brown and black bears - so cool!  A brown bear was cavorting in a pond - performing for us- playing with a stick.
