November 27th, 2014

Thursday - Thanksgiving day:  We had an awesome potluck dinner, followed by a jam session featuring local musicians - well, actually, a lot of them come from longer distances for these sessions, which happen every weekend! Wonderful music, great harmonization, completely unrehearsed - all country music.  Each weekend has a different theme - sometimes Bluegrass, Gospel, etc. This weekend had fewer musicians, probably because they are off doing Thanksgiving somewhere else with their families.  I'm told that there are often groups all around the campground outside, jamming!

Names escape me - but the guy standing up a bit seemed to be the leader - he's had a number of cd's out. The microphone is on wheels and is passed from musician to musician as each picks a song, tells everyone the key, and sings it.  During each person's song, there will be instrumental interludes when other musicians take the lead.  Very interesting teamwork at play here!

This woman used to play backup for Buck Owens!  She played some electric guitar (as in this photo) and a lot of standup electric guitar (it's in front of her, but blocked by the chair)

There's a whole row of lovely, big, wooden rocking chairs for the audience!

The lady in the red sweater had the only uklele in the group

The lady in the middle is playing a little tiny cello.

And one fiddler
