Decembers 20th to 28th
I spent another awesome Christmas at Luanne's house - we observed the Santa Claus run from her upstairs balcony - then took the ferry across to the Bolivar Peninsula and drove along the beach, checking out the ocean and the neighbourhoods there.  We passed a number of rv parks - none really places where I would have liked to stay. It may be a good thing that I missed out on staying in the peninsula in November when my rv broke down and I was forced to spend a week in Bayou Bend. We had lunch in a classic redneck hangout in Crystal Beach and gawked at a hotel with practically no windows, Fort Travis was interesting - right on the coast, with bunkers and all
December 22, a whale beached about ten minutes west of the rv park.  I went to check it out, but the police were keeping people a substantial distance away.  It had died and was actually on the beach.  Word is that they are going to bury it in the sand - it's huge!!
Tuesday, some of the women in the park took Phyllis out for lunch at Nate's, just down the road from the park.  She's been spending most of her time at the nursing home, catering to her mom - so we figured that she could use a few hours out with us!  Dora organized it, of course.  Good food, good company - good Christmas deed!
On Christmas Day, Luanne and I had Christmas dinner at John and Mary, her neighbours' house.  It was great - some of the other neighbours were there, too, and there was much laughter and fabulous food!  That evening, we went next door for Christmas singing around the piano at another neighbours' house - not actually much singing, in the end, but a wonderful pianist and lots of cool conversation..
I got to talk to Bobby and Kara on the phone on the 24th, then Julia and Leon on the 25th, and also Gregory and Anna - for about an hour and a half.  I love my kids!!!!
